Squall is the main character of Final Fantasy 8. Though he appears cold hearted and sad all the time, he can be kind. Squall is mostly quiet and keeps to himself. He doesn't like being involved in other peoples problems so he really doesn't want friends. Throughout the game, Squall does befriend the FF8 Gang and falls in love with Rinoa. (A lot of help from Irvine) Squall grew up in an orphanage and later was sent to Balamb Garden, where he became a See D. He then became the leader of the See D's and the leader of the Balamb Garden. Squall later meets his father, Laguna Loire; the president of Esthar.
When Squall was little, he was taken to an orphanage by Ellone. Squall was very close to Ellone, he called her "sis" Squall was always alone at the orphanage and he tried to be brave and told himself he'd be okay. That he would be able to take care of himself. But, as it turns out, Squall didn't turn out okay, he grew up motherless and he was a cold hearted person. His mother died because she was sick. (I think)
Later in the game, Squall learns it's alright to depend on people, and that his friends care for him. They teach him to open up and express his feelings, rather than keeping them to himself.
